Babolat

Founded in 1875, in Lyon, France, Babolat is the oldest international company specialized in racket sports. This flagship company began by inventing tennis strings. Originally, the Lyon-based company manufactured natural gut strings for musical instruments. Then, in 1875, Bussey, an Englishman, met with Pierre Babolat to ask him if he could manufacture a specific string that would be used for his racket frames. Thus, one year after the invention of tennis, the company Babolat invented and began marketing the world’s first tennis strings.  

In operation for five generations, Babolat is an innovative brand that offers all enthusiasts of racket sports—tennis, badminton and paddle tennis—a complete range of equipment—rackets, strings, shoes, balls or shuttlecocks, luggage, clothing and accessories.  

In 2013, Babolat launched a game-changing innovation: The world's first connected tennis rackets, Babolat PLAY. The brand equips many international players with strings and rackets, including Rafael Nadal (ESP, Pure Aero PLAY connected racket), Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA), Caroline Wozniacki (DEN, Pure Aero PLAY connected racket) and Eugénie Bouchard (CAN).
